Description

Key Characters:

Growth Form: Shrubs 5–10 dm tall or perhaps taller.

Stems: Bark brown, striate, young stems sparsely puberulent, soon glabrate.

Roots:

Leaves: Leaves simple. Alternate, well-spaced. Blades oblanceolate, 60–110 mm long, 16–30 mm wide. Apex acuminate. Base sessile;, gradually tapering to base. Blades coriaceous. Margins minutely revolute. Lateral and tertiary veins evident but not especially conspicuous. Petioles 1-6 mm long. Stipules absent.

Flowers: Flowers solitary in leaf axils. Flowers bisexual (perfect), actinomorphic, 6–7-merous, pedicels 15–30 mm long, glabrous or with a few minute hairs, bracteate, bracteoles absent. Calyx of 5 sepals; calyx lobes narrowly lanceolate, 12–16 mm long, sparsely puberulent at base. Corolla color unknown, 18–19 mm long, the lobes obovate, imbricate. Stamens as many as and opposite the corolla lobes; filaments connate ca. ⅓ their length, adnate to corolla tube; anthers dithecal. Ovary superior, 1-celled; ovule placentation free-central; style 1.

Fruit: Capsules not seen. Seeds not seen.
